ViewLux Kitchen Remodeling: The Orlando Owner’s Guide
If you’ve got a ViewLux kitchen and something’s failed, here’s the short version: we match, source, and install ViewLux-compatible kitchen remodeling components in Orlando for a full-project price of $14,000 – $45,000, depending on cabinet line, countertop material, and how much of the existing layout we’re working around. Most owners discover a problem the same way: a drawer front that’s loosened from its hinge plate, a soft-close mechanism that stopped catching, a door that’s drifted out of alignment and now scrapes the frame every time you open it. You’re not imagining it. ViewLux cabinetry uses a specific European-style hinge system, and when those components wear, the fix is rarely as simple as tightening one screw.

This page is written for the Orlando homeowner who already knows they have a ViewLux product and wants the straight answer on what it’ll take to make it right. Penhallow Remodeling is an independent contractor serving the Orlando area. We are not affiliated with ViewLux, but we work with their hardware and cabinet systems regularly, and we know what fails first and what it costs to replace.
Which ViewLux Models This Applies To

ViewLux cabinetry in Orlando homes spans several product generations, and the hardware is not always interchangeable between them. The older Series 500 and 600 lines used a 35mm cup hinge with a clip-on mounting plate that slides onto a screw-on base. The newer Series 700 and 900 lines moved to a 40mm cup and a press-in dowel mount, which means a hinge from one line will not seat properly in the other. If you’ve got a drawer box that’s split at the dovetail or a door that’s dropped, the first thing we do is pull one hinge and read the stamp on the back of the cup. That stamp tells us the series, the cup depth, and the overlay without any guesswork.
For Orlando homeowners, the most common ViewLux configuration we see in College Park bungalows and the Lake Nona area is the frameless, full-overlay style, which relies on the hinge for nearly all of the door’s structural support. There’s no face frame holding that door up. When a hinge wears, the door sags, and if it’s ignored long enough, the hinge cup can wallow out the bore in the door itself. At that point you’re not just replacing hardware; the door panel needs a repair bore or a replacement. We stock OEM ViewLux hardware on the truck for common series, and we keep quality aftermarket equivalents from Blum and Salice for the older lines where OEM parts have been discontinued. Both carry their own manufacturer warranties, and both install cleanly when you know the series.

Signs Your ViewLux Kitchen Remodeling Is Failing
- Doors won’t stay closed, or they snap shut too hard. The soft-close damper inside the hinge cup has either seized or leaked its damping fluid. We see this most often in Orlando kitchens that get a lot of heat and humidity cycling, which accelerates seal failure in the damper cylinder. Once the damper goes, the hinge is just a spring, and the door behavior changes overnight.
- A drawer front has dropped half an inch and scrapes the drawer below it. The clip-on bracket that connects the drawer front to the drawer box has cracked, almost always at the mounting tab. This is the single most common ViewLux failure point we replace in Orlando. The fix is usually a new bracket set, but if it’s been scraping for months, you may also need to plane or replace the drawer front edge.
- You have to lift the door to get it to latch. The hinge plate has slipped on its mounting screws, or the cup has started to pull out of the door bore. On frameless ViewLux cabinets, there’s no face frame to hide the problem, so a 1/8-inch slip shows up as a door that clearly doesn’t sit right.
- The soft-close on a drawer stopped working on one side but works on the other. Drawer slides wear unevenly, especially on the heavily used pot-and-pan drawer. When one side lets go, the drawer cocks in the opening, and the remaining slide starts wearing twice as fast. We typically replace both slides as a pair so you’re not chasing the same problem on the other side in six months.
- Hinges or slides are turning black-green with corrosion. Florida humidity is hard on zinc-plated hardware, and ViewLux’s earlier hardware runs used a lighter plating than the current production. Corroded hinges still function for a while, but they’ll wear the mounting screws loose faster, and eventually the cup will split under repeated stress when the plating’s compromised.
Replacement Cost & What’s Included

For a full ViewLux kitchen remodel in Orlando, budget $14,000 – $45,000. The single biggest driver is cabinet scope: a straight replacement of doors, hardware, and countertops on an existing footprint lands at the lower end, while reconfiguring a layout, adding an island, and moving plumbing or electrical pushes toward the top. Within that range, cabinet installation alone runs $4,000 – $13,000, countertop installation $2,000 – $6,500, backsplash $800 – $2,500, and a new kitchen island $3,000 – $10,000 if it’s built from scratch.
Every quote we write for Orlando ViewLux work is a written number before we start. That means the figure we hand you is the figure on the final invoice unless you change the scope mid-project, and if you do, we re-price it in writing before we pick up a tool. The 365-Day Done Right Promise applies to every ViewLux remodel we do: if something we installed fails inside a year, we come back and fix it at no charge. That includes hardware adjustments, hinge replacements, and any installation defect. Written on every project, no fine print.

If you’re reasonably handy, there are a couple of things you can check yourself. Confirm whether the screws on the hinge mounting plate are tight, and look at the hinge cup stamp to identify your ViewLux series. That’s useful information that helps us quote faster. What we’d caution against is attempting to bore out and re-locate a hinge cup in a good door. The tolerances on European cup hinges are tight: a bore that’s off by a millimeter or a hair out of plumb means the door will never close right, and hand-drilling without a jig usually ends with a door panel that needs replacing anyway. If the issue is a wallowed-out hinge cup or a cracked drawer front bracket, that’s the point where it’s cheaper to have us do it once than to buy a replacement door after a misdrill.

Call (850) 427-6454 and tell us what series your ViewLux hardware is. We’ll quote it over the phone when we can, and schedule a walkthrough when we can’t. Give you the number first, then pick up the tool.
FAQs

In Orlando’s humidity, we expect the original soft-close hinges on ViewLux cabinetry to last 8 – 12 years before the dampers start failing, with drawer slides on the heaviest drawers typically wearing at the 7 – 10 year mark. Cabinets that see direct afternoon sun through unshaded windows wear faster because the heat cycling breaks down the damping fluid more quickly. If your ViewLux kitchen is in an east-facing Orlando room with no window film, plan on the early end of that range.
Call (850) 427-6454 for an exact assessment of what’s still serviceable and what needs replacing. Estimates are free.
In most cases, no. A seized soft-close damper cannot be re-filled, and a cracked drawer-front bracket should not be glued; the repair will fail again under normal daily load, often within weeks. The repair-versus-replace line we draw is when the failure is in the door or box itself rather than the hardware. A stripped screw hole can be re-bored and bushed. A cracked hinge cup or a split dovetail cannot be economically repaired to original strength. If you’re unsure which category your problem falls into, call (850) 427-6454 and we’ll tell you plainly.
A hardware-and-countertop refresh on an existing footprint usually runs 2 – 3 weeks from demo to final walkthrough. A full reconfiguration with layout changes, plumbing moves, and new cabinetry typically runs 5 – 8 weeks depending on permit review times with the city of Orlando and material lead times. We give you a written schedule with the written price, and we hold to the arrival windows in it.
We stock the most common ViewLux hinge, bracket, and slide replacements on our installation trucks for the Series 600, 700, and 900 lines. Older Series 500 hardware and any discontinued finishes are usually available from our trade suppliers within a week, and we handle that procurement for you as part of the job. We also work regularly with KraftMaid, Cambria, and Silestone products for the surrounding remodel scope, so if your project extends beyond the ViewLux components, we’re not bouncing between subcontractors to quote the rest.
