Unilock Driveway & Pavers: The Orlando Owner’s Guide
If your Unilock driveway or paver patio in Orlando is showing sunken sections, cracked pavers, or shifting edges, we stock and install Unilock-compatible pavers and can typically match your existing product line. A paver driveway installation in Orlando runs $7,000 – $18,000, while paver patio work lands between $3,500 and $11,000 depending on square footage, base repair, and drainage work. Most Orlando homeowners discover a problem after a heavy summer storm, when water pools in a low spot that wasn’t there last year, or when a paver cracks under the weight of a parked truck.

Here’s what you need to know before you spend a dollar: matching the exact Unilock product line matters more than most people think, Florida’s sandy soil and wet-dry cycles punish a bad base faster than anything else, and a failing paver surface rarely fixes itself. We’ll walk through all of it below.
Which Unilock Models This Applies To

Unilock makes a broad range of concrete pavers and wall systems, but the lines we see most often in Orlando driveways and patios are Brussels Block, Bristol Valley, Seneca, Mattoni, Richcliff, and Umbriano. Each line has distinct dimensions, surface texture, and color blends. Brussels Block, for example, runs roughly 4×8 inches with a tumbled, worn edge. Richcliff is a larger-format paver, closer to 3×12 inches, with a smoother face. If you bought the house with the driveway already in place, the easiest way to identify your line is to pull one paver from an edge and check the underside for the Unilock stamp, or snap a photo and compare it against the current Unilock catalog at a local dealer.
Here’s the compatibility gotcha most people miss: Unilock changes its color blends over time. A Brussels Block in “Limestone Quarry Blend” from 2015 may not be the same mix as the 2024 version of that same named color. UV exposure fades the surface too. When we do a repair that needs matching, we pull pavers from a hidden area (inside a bed line, behind a gate) and use those for the visible repair area, then backfill the hidden spot with the closest current blend. That’s the trick that makes the patch disappear. We are an independent Orlando contractor, not affiliated with Unilock, but we work with their product lines regularly and source through authorized central Florida distributors.

Signs Your Unilock Driveway & Pavers Is Failing
- Sunken or dipping sections near the edges. This is almost always base failure, not paver failure. In central Florida, the issue is usually that the original installer laid pavers over a too-thin base of sand and crushed concrete, and years of afternoon downpours washed the bedding layer out from under the edges. The pavers themselves are fine. The foundation under them is gone.
- Cracks running through individual pavers. Unilock pavers are rated for vehicle loads, but they crack when the base settles unevenly and the paver bridges a soft spot. One cracked paver is a warning sign. Six cracked pavers in a cluster means the base has failed in that section and you’ll keep replacing pavers until the base is fixed.
- Growing gaps between pavers or between the paver edge and the driveway border. This is edge restraint failure. The original plastic or aluminum edging has pulled loose, and now the whole field of pavers is slowly spreading outward. Left alone, the edges get sloppy and the interlock that gives a paver driveway its strength starts to loosen across the whole surface.
- Water pooling in low spots after rain. Orlando gets about 52 inches of rain a year, most of it in concentrated bursts between June and September. A properly graded paver driveway sheds water fast. If water is standing, the surface has settled, and the fix is pulling the affected area, re-grading the base, and relaying the pavers.
- White haze or surface flaking on the pavers. This one is cosmetic. Efflorescence (the white chalky film) is a mineral deposit from moisture moving through the concrete. Surface flaking, called spalling, happens when pavers were sealed with the wrong product or pressure-washed too aggressively. It’s ugly but rarely structural. We can clean and reseal or replace individual pavers where the flaking is deep.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

For a full paver driveway installation in Orlando, plan on $7,000 – $18,000. Replacement of an existing paver driveway that’s already failed typically lands in the $5,000 – $14,000 range, because part of the old base may be salvageable. A paver patio runs $3,500 – $11,000. A small spot repair, where we pull a section, rebuild the base, and relay the same pavers, usually comes in between $800 and $3,000 depending on how much base we have to dig out and haul away.
What drives the number up or down: square footage, the condition of your existing base, access for equipment (tight Orlando backyards with fence gates cost more than a wide-open front driveway), and whether you want a new border or edge restraint. Every quote we give in Orlando is a written price before any work starts. Not a range, not a ballpark. The number we hand you is the number you pay. That written quote includes the paver material, base work, edge restraint, compactor time, and cleanup. If the work fails inside a year, we come back and fix it at no charge under the 365-Day Done Right Promise. That’s in writing too.
DIY or Call Us?
Lifting and relaying a few pavers is something a careful homeowner can do on a small patio section. What goes wrong in DIY jobs is the part you can’t see. Cutting corners on the base, skipping the compactor, eyeballing the grade. In Orlando, where the water table is high and the soil is sand-heavy, a base built without proper compaction and drainage will settle within two rainy seasons. We’ve pulled apart DIY paver projects where the homeowner spent $3,000 in materials and the surface looked like a skate park within eighteen months.
If you’re pulling up pavers near a driveway that handles vehicle weight, or if the failure covers more than a few square feet, call us at (850) 427-6454. We’ll look at the base, tell you honestly whether it’s salvageable, and give you the number first, then pick up the tool.
FAQs

The pavers themselves will last 25 to 30 years or more if the base under them is solid. What fails first in Orlando is almost never the paver, it’s the base and edge restraint. A properly installed base with good drainage will carry Unilock pavers for decades. A thin base over Florida sand will show problems in five to eight years.
If the failure is localized to a specific section, you can absolutely repair just that section. We pull the pavers, rebuild the base, and relay the same pavers if they’re intact. Full replacement only makes sense when the base has failed across most of the surface, or when you want to change the paver style entirely. Call (850) 427-6454 for an honest assessment. Our visit and estimate are free.
Most single-family paver driveway replacements take five to seven working days from tear-out to final compaction. Patios are usually three to five days. Weather can stretch that in the summer afternoons, when Orlando thunderstorms roll through daily, but we build that into the schedule and tell you the window up front.
We source Unilock products through authorized central Florida distributors and handle the ordering, delivery, and material checks ourselves. You don’t need to order anything. If you’re trying to match an existing blend, we’ll pull a sample and verify the current color mix before we order a single pallet.
Penhallow Remodeling Orlando also works with other recognized trade brands including KraftMaid cabinetry, Cambria quartz, and Silestone surfaces, so the same written-price, written-guarantee standard applies whether we’re fixing your paver driveway or rebuilding your kitchen.
