Techo-Bloc Driveway & Pavers: The Orlando Owner’s Guide

If your Techo-Bloc driveway or paver patio has a cracked unit, a sunken section, or edge restraints that have let go, we can match the replacement part and install it. In Orlando, a paver driveway installation runs $7,000 – $18,000, while a paver patio typically lands between $3,500 and $11,000. Most homeowners call us after they notice one of three things: a paver that’s cracked clean through, a low spot that pools water after a Florida afternoon storm, or edges spreading where the driveway meets the lawn.

We’re an independent service provider in Orlando, not affiliated with Techo-Bloc directly. What that means for you: we carry and can order Techo-Bloc product lines, and we install them to the manufacturer’s spec. It also means we’ll tell you honestly when a paver can be pulled and reset versus when the base underneath has to be rebuilt.

Which Techo-Bloc Models This Applies To

Techo-Bloc manufactures a wide range of concrete pavers, but the lines we see most often in Orlando driveways are Blu 60, Blu 80, Semma, and Mista. Each has its own dimensional footprint and joint spacing, and here’s the compatibility gotcha most homeowners don’t know: a Blu 60 unit does not swap cleanly into a Blu 80 field. The thickness and modular sizing differ enough that you’ll get visible joint misalignment and a lip between units. If you have leftover pavers from the original install, match the stamp on the underside. If not, measure the paver’s width, length, and thickness, and take a photo of the surface texture before calling us.

The OEM versus aftermarket decision matters here. Techo-Bloc runs specific color blends, and their manufacturing process produces surface variation that generic big-box pavers simply don’t replicate. For a field repair in the middle of a driveway, we recommend genuine Techo-Bloc units, even if they cost a few dollars more per square foot. An aftermarket paver that’s close in color but wrong in texture will stand out for the life of the driveway, and Orlando’s intense UV exposure makes color mismatches more obvious over time, not less.

Signs Your Techo-Bloc Driveway & Pavers Is Failing

  • Cracked or spalled pavers. A single crack usually means point load from a vehicle or tree root pressure. Spalling, where the surface flakes off in sheets, almost always traces back to water intrusion and poor drainage under the paver.
  • Sunken or depressed areas. Orlando’s sandy soils settle over time, especially after heavy rain seasons. If the base was compacted poorly or the subgrade wasn’t stabilized, you’ll see a bowl shape form, often near the garage apron or along the curb line.
  • Edges spreading or gaps opening. The edge restraint, usually plastic or aluminum, is what holds the whole field together. Once it fails or was never installed properly, pavers drift outward and joints widen progressively.
  • Joint sand washing out. After a hard Florida downpour, check for sand trails running off the driveway. That’s polymer sand or joint sand eroding. Left unchecked, pavers start shifting against each other and the field loses its interlock.
  • Standing water lasting more than a few hours. A properly pitched paver driveway drains fast. Persistent puddles mean the grade has changed beneath the pavers, and a birdbath in the wrong spot is a sign the subbase has failed, not just the surface.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

For a full paver driveway installation in Orlando, expect $7,000 – $18,000 depending on square footage, access, and base condition. A paver patio replacement runs $3,500 – $11,000. The big driver isn’t the pavers themselves; it’s what’s underneath. If the existing base is intact, we can pull and reinstall pavers at the lower end of the range. If the subgrade has to be excavated, re-compacted, and rebuilt with fresh aggregate, labor and material costs climb.

Every Penhallow job includes excavation and base prep, edge restraints, paver supply, joint sand, and full cleanup. We write the price before any work starts, and the number on your written quote is the number on the invoice. Techo-Bloc pavers carry the manufacturer’s warranty, and our 365-Day Done Right Promise means if something fails inside the first year, we come back and fix it at no charge. That promise is in writing, on every project.

DIY or Call Us?

What you can safely do yourself: clear debris from the joints, sweep in fresh joint sand on small gaps, and monitor drainage after storms to help us diagnose what’s failing. What you should not do: pull up a cracked paver and reset it without addressing why it cracked. A reset paver on a failed base will sink again within months, and you’ll have spent a Saturday proving it.

Rebuilding a proper base requires excavating to depth, compacting in lifts, and re-grading for drainage. That’s not a weekend project, and skimping on compaction is how most Orlando paver failures start in the first place. Call (850) 427-6454 and we’ll take a look, tell you what’s actually wrong, and give you a written number. Give you the number first, then pick up the tool.
