Tamko Roofing: The Orlando Owner’s Guide
If your Tamko roof is leaking, lifting, or shedding granules, we stock the replacement shingles, underlayment, flashing, and sealants to match your existing system and install them at a flat, written price before we start. In Orlando, a Tamko roof repair typically runs $400 – $1,800 depending on how much decking has rotted and how many squares of shingles need pulling. Most owners call us after noticing a water stain on the ceiling, granules collecting in the gutter, or a shingle tab that flipped up after an afternoon thunderstorm. You need a straight answer on whether it’s a patch or a reroof, and that’s what we’ll give you, along with the number before anyone picks up a tool.

Which Tamko Models This Applies To

Tamko builds three main asphalt shingle lines you’ll find on Orlando roofs: the Heritage series (their workhorse architectural shingle, available in 30-year and 50-year versions), the Proline series (a budget-friendly 3-tab option), and the Titan XT line (a thicker, heavier architectural shingle designed to handle impact and wind better than standard Heritage). Most newer Orlando homes built since the mid-2000s have Heritage, but the older neighborhoods like College Park, Audubon Park, and Conway still have plenty of 3-tab Proline roofs in service.
Here’s the compatibility gotcha most homeowners don’t know: Tamko changed the adhesive strip profile between older Heritage runs and newer ones. A shingle from 2016 and a shingle from 2024 may look identical from the ground, but the sealant line sits at a different height, which means they won’t lock together the way they should in wind. When we’re patching a Tamko roof, we verify the shingle’s production date code printed on the back of the bundle and match it to the correct generation, not just the color name. Colors like Weatherwood, Olde English Pewter, and Natural Timber have stayed in production for years, but tint lot variations mean we may need to pull shingles from the south-facing slope to blend the patch into the north face.
For underlayment, Tamko’s TW Metal and Tile underlayments are common on tile roofs in Orlando, and their Moisture Guard synthetic works under most architectural shingle jobs. Flashing and ridge cap products are largely interchangeable with other quality brands, but the shingle itself is where we keep OEM Tamko stock. For countertops and cabinetry work we stock KraftMaid, Cambria, and Silestone; for roofing parts, we keep genuine Tamko on the shelf.

Signs Your Tamko Roofing Is Failing
- Granules in the gutter. If you’re finding a fine black or gray grit every time you clean the gutters, the shingle’s protective mineral coating is breaking down. In Florida’s UV, that breakdown happens faster than Tamko’s warranty math would suggest, and it means the asphalt layer underneath is now exposed to direct sun.
- Curling or raised shingle tabs. A tab that lifts at the corner means the adhesive strip has failed and the shingle is only held by the nails. After enough afternoon storms roll through Orlando, that tab starts flapping, the nails back out, and you get a wind-driven leak that doesn’t show up until the next heavy rain.
- The flashing is pulling away from the chimney or wall junction. Roof cement gives out in about five to seven years of Florida heat. When it does, the metal flashing separates from the vertical surface and water runs straight down the gap. This is the most common leak source we patch on older Orlando homes.
- Dark streaks or moss on the north slope. Algae and moisture retention tell you the shingle is trapping water instead of shedding it. The north-facing slope under tree cover in neighborhoods like Winter Park and Oviedo stays damp, and that constant moisture is what eats through the decking underneath.
- Soft decking or a sagging ridge line. If you can see the roofline dip between rafters from the street, the OSB or plywood decking is saturated and has lost its structural strength. That’s not a shingle problem; that’s a pulled-decking repair, and it’s why the price range swings from a few hundred dollars up to $1,800 or more.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

A Tamko roof repair in Orlando runs $400 – $1,800. A simple shingle tab replacement with matching granules and sealant lands around $400 – $700. A roof repair involving a square or more of shingles, new synthetic underlayment, and flashing work lands in the $800 – $1,200 range. Once we’re pulling and replacing rotted decking, the cost climbs to $1,200 – $1,800 depending on how many sheets of OSB we have to swap and whether the repair is on a two-story section with odd access.
Your written price includes all materials, labor, dump fees, and the specific repair scope. We separate materials and labor on the quote, so you’ll see exactly what the Tamko shingles cost and exactly what our crew is charging to put them on. Every repair carries our 365-Day Done Right Promise in writing: if that same repair fails inside the year, we come back and fix it at no charge, no re-inspection fee, no pushback.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely check a few things yourself. Inspect the roof from the ground with binoculars to look for lifted tabs or missing shingles. Check your attic for water rings on the decking after heavy rain. Clean your gutters to see what’s collecting. None of that puts you on a ladder.
What you shouldn’t do is climb onto a Tamko roof after a rain to patch a leak. Wet shingles on a 6/12 pitch in Orlando are unpredictable, and the roof surfaces here hit 140°F plus in summer. The risk isn’t worth the $200 you’d save. Beyond that, a DIY patch with the wrong generation shingle or the wrong sealant simply won’t hold, and you’ll be calling us anyway after the next storm. If you want an honest assessment of whether the repair is simple or your roofline is telling us a full replacement is coming, call (850) 427-6454 and we’ll get someone out to look.
FAQs

Tamko’s 30-year shingles rarely make it past 18 – 22 years on an Orlando roof because the combination of UV, humidity, and afternoon storm cycles breaks down the asphalt and adhesive faster than the warranty curve predicts. If your roof is at year 15 or beyond, we’ll be honest about how many patchable years are left.
Yes, as long as the remaining shingles are in serviceable condition and the decking isn’t wicking moisture. But there’s a point where chasing patches costs more per year than a replacement would have, and we’ll tell you where that line is before we quote you a repair. Call (850) 427-6454 for an exact assessment.
Most single-zone, single-story repairs are done in one day. Repairs that require decking replacement across multiple sheets or work on a two-story side can run two days. We’ll give you the same written price and arrival window whether it’s one or two.
We stock the most common Heritage colors in Orlando, including Weatherwood and Natural Timber, along with matching Tamko ridge cap and sealant. Less common colors and the Titan XT line are usually available from our local supplier within 48 hours. We’ll confirm material availability as part of your written quote so there’s no surprise delay.
