Silestone Kitchen Remodeling: The Orlando Owner’s Guide
Silestone kitchen remodeling in Orlando typically runs $14,000 to $45,000 installed, depending on cabinet layout, countertop square footage, and whether you’re keeping existing plumbing and electrical in place. Most full-kitchen projects we quote land between $18,000 and $32,000. The most common entry point we see: a homeowner loves their Silestone counters but the cabinets under them are sagging, the sink base has water damage, or the layout fights the way they actually cook. That’s not a tear-out-and-start-over problem. It’s a targeted remodel with the Silestone as the anchor.

We’re Penhallow Remodeling Orlando, an independent contractor, not affiliated with Silestone or Cosentino. But we’ve installed and worked around enough Silestone to know how it behaves in Florida humidity and what happens when the support structure underneath it gives up before the quartz does. Silestone itself is tough. The framing, the cabinet boxes, the sink clips, the seam joints, the faucet rough-ins, the backsplash substrate behind it, those are what fail first. That’s where our work starts: figuring out what’s actually moving or leaking, then pricing the fix in writing before we pick up a tool.
Which Silestone Models This Applies To

Silestone comes in dozens of colorways across several finish families: the classic polished lines, the Suede matte finish, and the newer HybriQ+ lines with reduced crystalline silica. None of that changes the remodeling math much. The countertop slab itself rarely fails. What matters for compatibility is the edge profile, the slab thickness, and how the original installer joined the seams.
Three thicknesses dominate Orlando kitchens: 2cm (about 3/4 inch), which usually gets laminated at the edge to look thicker, 3cm (about 1 1/4 inch), the most common in newer builds, and the 1.2cm ultra-thin sheets typically reserved for vertical applications. When we match Silestone for a repair or an island extension, the thickness has to match or your new section sits proud or shallow against the old one. Same story with edge profiles: a beveled edge on the main run and a squared edge on the new island section looks wrong by about a quarter inch, and eye level is cruel about quarter inches.
If you’re doing a full remodel rather than a match, we help you pick a Silestone color that works with a Kohler or Moen faucet finish and a cabinet line like KraftMaid or Wellborn before any slab is ordered. The slab lead time out of the Cosentino distribution network is usually two to three weeks to Orlando. We write that into the schedule on day one so you’re never living with a plywood countertop longer than necessary.

Signs Your Silestone Kitchen Remodeling Is Failing
- Seam separation at the Silestone joint. Florida’s humidity swells cabinet boxes and subfloors. When the cabinets under a seam move even a few millimeters, the seam opens and the adhesive bond breaks. The fix usually involves shimming and re-clamping the slabs, not replacing the quartz.
- Soft spots or water stains at the sink base cabinet. A slow faucet or disposal leak rots the cabinet floor under the Silestone. The stone above is fine, but the cabinet floor is turning to sponge. That requires removing the Silestone sink run temporarily to rebuild the base, which is a specialist job.
- Cracks radiating from a cooktop cutout. Silestone is a quartz surface; it’s hard but not flexible. If the original installer didn’t leave the proper expansion gap around the cooktop, heat cycling can create a hairline crack. Once that crack appears, it needs a fabricator’s evaluation, not epoxy from the hardware store.
- Drawers and doors binding on a kitchen island. Island cabinets take abuse; leaning, sitting, kids, traffic. When the carcass (the cabinet body) strains out of square, doors ride up and drawers snag. That’s often repair-friendly framing and hinge work, not a full island replacement.
- Backsplash tiles popping or grout cracking behind the Silestone. The backsplash was likely set directly on drywall with the wrong adhesive. Central Florida’s moisture and temperature swings then work it loose. The Silestone is fine, but the substrate (the layer behind the tile) has to come out and be rebuilt with cement board before new tile goes back.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

In Orlando, a full Silestone kitchen remodel runs $14,000 to $45,000. The spread comes down to three things: cabinet construction (stock versus semi-custom lines like KraftMaid or Wellborn), how many linear feet of Silestone you’re installing and in what thickness, and how much electrical and plumbing must move. Moving a sink line or adding outlets for an island cooktop pushes a quote toward the upper end fast.
Every quote we hand you is a written number, not a ballpark. It includes the Silestone slab cost, fabrication, delivery, cabinet removal and installation, sink and faucet integration, backsplash substrate and tile if included, and the final silicone and seams. If the number changes, you’ll know before we touch the job, and the reason will be written down. Countertop-only work on an existing kitchen runs $2,000 to $6,500 installed in Orlando, which matters if the cabinets are sound and you’re refreshing surfaces only. Island projects run $3,000 to $10,000 for cabinet work plus slab. Every remodel comes with our 365-Day Done Right Promise in writing: if any part of our work fails within a year, we come back and fix it at no charge. No service call fee, no argument.
DIY or Call Us?
Here’s the honest split. What you can safely do yourself is identify the problem. Open the sink base, run a dry paper towel along the floor, look for old water lines on the cabinet walls. Check whether the Silestone is actually cracked or whether it’s the grout and tile moving. That information helps every contractor quote more accurately.
What you should not do is attempt to lift, shim, glue, or clamp Silestone yourself. A 3cm Silestone slab weighs roughly 18 pounds per square foot. A 30-square-foot island run is over 500 pounds. Pinched fingers are the good outcome; a dropped slab cracks, and a cracked slab is a full replacement cost. Re-seaming quartz requires a fabricator’s vacuum clamps and specific two-part adhesives. Cabinet rebuilding under stone means temporary support and careful load transfer. This is not a job for a Saturday and a helper from the gym. Give you the number first, then pick up the tool is how I’ve always run this. Call us at (850) 427-6454 and we’ll look at the whole kitchen, explain what’s failing, and put the fix in writing.
FAQs

Silestone quartz is non-porous and doesn’t swell or warp in humidity the way a laminate top will, so the material itself can last 25 years or more in an Orlando kitchen. What typically fails first is the support structure underneath it: cabinet boxes, glued seams, or the sink base. We’ve pulled Silestone off 30-year-old framing and salvaged the slabs for reuse.
Seam separation can usually be repaired by a fabricator with the right clamps and adhesives; a full crack or chip at a cookout cutout usually means section replacement. The determining factor is whether the stone itself broke or the bond let go. Call us at (850) 427-6454, send a photo, and we’ll tell you which one you’re looking at before anyone schedules a visit.
Plan on four to six weeks from the day cabinets are ordered to final walkthrough. Slab fabrication runs two to three weeks after templating, cabinet delivery runs three to four weeks for semi-custom lines, and the install itself is typically five to seven working days. We hand you a written timeline at the start, and the arrival window we give is the window we keep.
We don’t warehouse slabs ourselves; we order from Cosentino’s distribution network once your template is confirmed. That keeps your color and thickness consistent and avoids a slab sitting in a yard for months before it’s cut. Expect two to three weeks from template approval to slab arrival in Orlando. If you need a match for existing Silestone, we can source a sample chip first to confirm the colorway before ordering.
