Quikrete Driveway & Pavers: The Orlando Owner’s Guide
We stock and install Quikrete-compatible driveway and paver materials throughout Orlando, with most paver driveway projects running between $7,000 and $18,000 installed. A concrete driveway using Quikrete products typically lands between $4,500 and $12,000 depending on square footage and site prep. Most Orlando homeowners discover they have a Quikrete problem the same way: a paver sinks after a heavy afternoon storm, a concrete slab starts spalling at the edges, or sand keeps washing out from between joints every time the summer rains roll through.

Orlando’s weather is not gentle on concrete and pavers. The daily afternoon thunderstorms from June through September push water through joints and into the base layer. The sandy soil common to much of Central Florida doesn’t hold compaction the way clay does, so pavers shift. Concrete cracks at control joints that were cut too shallow or skipped entirely. Before we quote anything, we figure out why the surface failed. Replacing a paver on top of a washed-out base just means replacing it again next year. Give you the number first, then pick up the tool.
Which Quikrete Models This Applies To

Quikrete doesn’t sell driveways as a finished product. What homeowners actually have is one of Quikrete’s bagged concrete mixes, their paver base materials, their polymeric sand, or their concrete resurfacer applied over an existing slab. That distinction matters because each product fails differently and needs a different fix.
For concrete driveways, the common Quikrete products we match are their 5000 PSI concrete mix, crack-resistant concrete mix, and vinyl concrete patcher. For pavers, it’s Quikrete paver base, leveling sand, and polymeric jointing sand. The compatibility gotcha most Orlando homeowners run into: Quikrete’s polymeric sand needs a specific joint width to set correctly. If your pavers were laid tight against each other with joints under 1/8 inch, the sand can’t fully activate and washes out in the first hard rain. We see that failure on older paver patios all over College Park and Baldwin Park. Another Orlando-specific reality: any Quikrete resurfacer applied to a slab in our climate needs the concrete to be fully cured and moisture-tested first. Central Florida’s humidity slows cure times, and a resurfacer laid too early will delaminate within a season or two.
We’re an independent Orlando contractor, not affiliated with Quikrete. But we’ve worked with their product lines long enough to know which mix suits which application, and we stock the common Quikrete products on our trucks in Orlando so we’re not running to the supply house mid-job.

Signs Your Quikrete Driveway & Pavers Are Failing
- Sand washing out between pavers after every rain. This almost always means the original polymeric sand was never activated properly, or the base underneath has shifted enough to crack the joints open. Water keeps carving channels and the pavers will keep moving until the base gets addressed.
- Sunken or tilted pavers near the driveway apron. Orlando’s sandy soil settles differently after heavy rain cycles. A paver that dips an inch in one corner tells us the base layer washed out underneath, not that the paver itself failed.
- Spalling concrete at the slab edges or along control joints. Spalling is the flaking or chipping you see when moisture gets into the concrete’s surface. In Orlando, where concrete sees relentless sun and then drenching rain within the same afternoon, spalling spreads fast once it starts.
- Hairline cracks that widen every summer. Concrete expands in Florida’s heat. If control joints weren’t cut at the right spacing, the slab cracks wherever it wants. A hairline crack that was a quarter inch this spring will be half an inch by September.
- White chalky residue on the surface. That’s efflorescence, salt minerals pulled up by moisture moving through the concrete. It’s not just cosmetic. It tells us water is traveling through the slab in ways it shouldn’t, and that same water path is what eventually destroys the surface from underneath.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
In Orlando, a full paver driveway replacement using Quikrete base materials runs $7,000 to $18,000 installed. A concrete driveway pour with Quikrete mixes lands between $4,500 and $12,000. If you’re just replacing a section of sunken pavers and re-compacting the base, you’re typically looking at a smaller repair that we price per square foot after inspecting what’s underneath.
What moves the number: total square footage, whether we’re tearing out an old slab or pavers first, how much base material needs to be removed and replaced, and whether drainage needs to be corrected. Orlando lots with poor grading or a high water table usually need extra base work before new pavers go down. Every quote includes the teardown, base prep, materials, labor, haul-away if needed, and our written 365-Day Done Right Promise: if the work fails inside the guarantee period, we come back and fix it at no charge. The price you get in writing before we start is the price on the invoice.

DIY or Call Us?
You can absolutely replace a single cracked paver or touch up a small spalled area yourself, provided the base underneath is still solid. Pull the paver, check that the sand underneath hasn’t washed out, reset it, and sweep fresh polymeric sand into the joints following the bag’s moisture instructions. That’s a reasonable Saturday job.
Where DIY goes wrong in Orlando is when the base has failed. If pavers are sinking in a pattern, or water pools against the house after rain, or cracks keep reappearing after patching, the problem is below the surface. Digging out and re-compacting a driveway base by hand is slow, physically demanding work, and if the compaction isn’t done right, the pavers will sink again within a year. Same goes for concrete: a resurfacer applied to a slab with moisture problems will peel off in sheets. We’d rather you call us at (850) 427-6454 and have us look at it than spend a weekend and a few hundred dollars on supplies that don’t hold up through one Orlando rainy season.
FAQs

A properly installed paver driveway with a correctly compacted base typically lasts 25 to 35 years in Orlando, though you’ll need to refresh the polymeric sand every 5 to 8 years as it erodes. A concrete driveway poured with Quikrete 5000 PSI mix and cut with proper control joints commonly lasts 20 to 30 years, but our humidity and rain means sealing every few years helps. If you’re seeing failure sooner than that, the issue is usually the base or the joint work, not the Quikrete product itself.
Yes, in many cases. Sunken pavers can be lifted, the base re-compacted, and the pavers reset. Cracks in concrete can be routed and filled with an appropriate patcher, and spalled areas can be resurfaced if the slab is structurally sound and moisture levels check out. What can’t be repaired is a base that has completely washed out or a slab that has shifted enough to be structurally unstable. Call (850) 427-6454 and we’ll tell you honestly which side of that line your driveway sits on. The inspection and estimate are free.
A paver driveway teardown and reinstall in Orlando typically takes 3 to 5 working days depending on square footage and weather. A full concrete driveway pour with Quikrete mixes runs 2 to 4 days including tear-out, form work, pour, and the required curing window before you drive on it. We’ll give you a written schedule before work starts, and we show up in the window we gave you.
We stock the common Quikrete mixes, base materials, and jointing sands on our trucks for most Orlando jobs. That includes 5000 PSI concrete mix, crack-resistant mix, vinyl concrete patcher, paver base, and polymeric sand. If your project needs a specialized Quikrete product we don’t keep on the truck, we’ll source it from a Orlando supply house before the job date. You never need to buy materials yourself, and everything we supply is covered by our workmanship guarantee.
If your Quikrete driveway or pavers are showing signs of trouble, the fastest way to get answers is to call (850) 427-6454. We’ll talk through what you’re seeing, schedule a free estimate, and put a written price in your hands before any work starts. That’s the way we’ve always done it, and it’s the way it should be done in Orlando.
