Oldcastle Driveway & Pavers: The Orlando Owner’s Guide
We install Oldcastle-compatible driveway and paver systems throughout Orlando, and a full paver driveway replacement typically runs $7,000 – $18,000 installed, depending on square footage, substrate condition, and paver line. That’s the number we give you before anyone picks up a tool. Most homeowners call us after a section of pavers has sunk, shifted, or cracked, or when the sand joints between pavers have washed out badly enough that weeds and ants have moved in.

If you’re looking at a specific Oldcastle paver that’s cracked, spalled, or sitting crooked in the run, we can match it. If you’re looking at a failing base layer under a larger area, that’s a different conversation, and we’ll tell you which one you have when we walk the site. Penhallow Remodeling Orlando is an independent service provider. We’re not affiliated with Oldcastle, but we work with their paver lines regularly because they hold up in Florida’s heat and rain when the base underneath them is built right.
Which Oldcastle Models This Applies To

Oldcastle manufactures pavers under several series lines, and the compatibility question is usually about matching profile and dimensions, not just color. The Belgard and Acker-Stone lines are the ones we see most often in Orlando driveways, patios, and pool decks. Both come in modular sizing systems, which means a 6×9 rectangle, a 6×6 square, and a 9×9 square are designed to interlock in the same plane. If you have one cracked 6×9, you can’t just drop in a 4×8 from another series and expect the pattern to hold.
Here’s the compatibility gotcha we run into all the time in Orlando: older Oldcastle pavers installed before roughly 2010 often used a 2 3/8-inch thickness for driveways, while newer vehicular-rated lines are 2 3/8 to 3 1/8 inches depending on the series. If you’re replacing a single paver in an older driveway, you need the exact thickness, or the replacement sits proud of the neighbors and gets clipped by car tires. Measure the paver you pulled. Check the back surface for a stamped series code or dimension mark. OEM Oldcastle pavers will sometimes carry a mold number on the underside; if it’s worn off, we match by profile and color fade. On the OEM-versus-aftermarket question, we push OEM for color-matched driveway repairs, because Florida sun bleaches pavers unevenly, and an aftermarket lookalike will show itself within six months. For full replacements, we price both Oldcastle and equivalent Belgard or Unilock lines and let you see the difference in writing.

Signs Your Oldcastle Driveway & Pavers Is Failing
- Sunken or “cupped” sections near the driveway edges. This almost always means the base layer (the compacted aggregate under the pavers) has washed out or was never compacted deeply enough for Florida’s sandy soils. Orlando’s rain finds the weak spot and pulls the fines out from underneath.
- Widening gaps between pavers with weeds or ant mounds in the joints. Joint sand is the sacrificial layer. Once it’s gone, pavers lose lateral support and start drifting. Ants are an Orlando constant, but they only colonize joints that have already lost their sand.
- Cracked or spalled paver surfaces, especially in the first few rows from the driveway apron. Vehicle weight plus a thin paver over an uneven base equals a crack. Spalling (the surface flaking away) usually points to a paver that wasn’t rated for vehicle traffic or was exposed to standing water for prolonged periods.
- A low spot that puddles after rain and stays wet for more than a day. Pavers don’t fail, the base fails. Standing water means the slope or drainage layer is no longer doing its job, and any repair that ignores the base will fail again within a season or two.
- Pavers rocking or shifting underfoot near the pool deck or walkway. This is a substrate failure, not a paver failure. It happens when the sand setting bed erodes or the original install skipped the geotextile fabric that keeps sand from migrating into Florida’s sandy subgrade.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

For an Orlando paver driveway replacement, you’re looking at $7,000 – $18,000 installed. The spread comes down to square footage, base depth, paver series, and how much edge restraint and drainage correction the site needs. Smaller paver patio jobs run $3,500 – $11,000. A single-paver repair or joint-sand top-dressing is far less, usually a few hundred dollars depending on paver matching and the number of affected spots.
Every written price we give includes the paver material, the base work (excavation, aggregate, compaction), the setting bed, edge restraints, joint sand, and cleanup. If we find the base needs more work than expected after we open it up, we stop and give you a revised written number before we proceed. No surprises on the invoice. The work carries our 365-Day Done Right Promise in writing: if the pavers shift, crack, or the joints fail within the guarantee period, we come back and fix it at no charge. That’s the Kingswell standard, and it’s been the rule since 2004.
DIY or Call Us?
For a single cracked paver, a competent homeowner can pop it out with a couple of flat pry bars, level the sand bed, and seat a new one, provided you have the exact match. That’s a Saturday job. For anything involving base failure, edge collapse, or drainage correction, DIY goes wrong in the same way every time: you fix the surface, the base stays broken, and the repair fails again within a year. You can spot the difference yourself. If the pavers around the problem area are still tight and the damage is isolated to one or two units, it’s likely surface-level. If a whole section has dropped, drifted, or separated, the base is gone and the repair means cutting out, re-compacting, and rebuilding. That’s where we’d rather you call us at (850) 427-6454. We’ll look at it, tell you which category you’re in, and give you the number first, then pick up the tool.
FAQs

A properly installed Oldcastle paver driveway in Orlando should run 25 to 30 years before the surface shows real wear, but the base underneath it can fail much sooner if it wasn’t compacted correctly or if drainage wasn’t accounted for. Florida’s combination of sandy soil, heavy afternoon rain, and high water table means the base and drainage details matter more than the paver itself. Call (850) 427-6454 and we’ll tell you whether what you’re seeing is a paver problem or a base problem.
A cracked paver cannot be glued back together in any way that survives Orlando traffic and weather, so replacement is the only real repair. The question is whether it’s one paver or a symptom of a failing base under many. If the crack is isolated and the surrounding pavers are tight, a single-unit swap is a small job with a written price and a guarantee. If multiple pavers are cracking in the same area, call us at (850) 427-6454 before replacing any of them.
A typical single-car paver driveway replacement in Orlando takes three to five working days from excavation to final joint sand. Larger driveways or jobs that require base rebuilds, drainage correction, or paver matching for an existing pool deck will run longer, and we’ll give you a written schedule before we start. We keep our arrival windows and we leave the site clean when we’re done.
We source Oldcastle and equivalent Belgard and Unilock pavers directly through our trade suppliers, and we handle the ordering, delivery, and storage on site. You don’t need to buy a pallet yourself or guess at a series code. Tell us what you have, and if we need to match an existing paver, we’ll take a sample to the supplier before we give you a written price. Call (850) 427-6454 for more details.
