Bufftech Driveway & Pavers: The Orlando Owner’s Guide
We stock and install Bufftech-compatible driveway and paver components throughout Orlando, with most replacements running $7,000 – $18,000 depending on the scope of the driveway and the specific Bufftech paver line involved. Typical discovery is simple: a paver has shifted after a heavy summer rain, a section near the curb has sunk where the soil washed out beneath it, or the edging that holds the border in place has popped loose. If your Bufftech driveway is starting to show those signs, the fix is more specific than “re-set a few stones” – it usually means correcting what’s underneath before the surface goes back down.

We’re an independent Orlando service provider, not affiliated with Bufftech. That said, we’ve worked with enough Bufftech pavers on driveways across the city to know exactly how they behave in Florida’s soil and storm cycles, and we carry the components needed to match the existing layout without a patchwork look.
Which Bufftech Models This Applies To

Bufftech manufactures pavers under several product lines, and the compatibility question matters more than most homeowners expect. The three series we see most often on Orlando driveways are the Holland Stone, the Coventry Stone, and the larger-format Plaza Stone. Each one uses a slightly different depth profile and a different joint width, which means a replacement paver from the wrong line will sit proud of the surface or leave a joint that looks noticeably wider than its neighbors.
The reliable way to identify what you have is to pull one intact paver from an inconspicuous edge and check the underside. Bufftech stamps a part number into the mold on most of its concrete pavers, usually a four- or five-digit code near the center. Bring that number to us or snap a photo with a ruler next to the paver’s thickness. Bufftech driveway pavers in Florida are almost always 60mm (about 2-3/8 inches) thick, while pedestrian-only patio pavers run closer to 40mm. If someone installed the thinner ones on your driveway, that’s your root cause right there – they were never rated for vehicle weight, and the first sign is usually hairline cracking that radiates from the wheel-track areas.
On the OEM-versus-aftermarket question: Bufftech’s own replacements are dimensionally identical, but they can take two to four weeks to arrive through specialty supply channels. Quality aftermarket equivalents from Orlando-area concrete paver yards often match the color and size closely enough for a seamless repair, and they’re available the same week. We’ll give you both options with the price difference on paper, and you decide.

Signs Your Bufftech Driveway & Pavers Is Failing
- Sunken sections near the curb or along the tire paths. Orlando’s sandy subgrade washes out after heavy afternoon storms, and once the base material under the pavers erodes, the surface drops with it. This is a base failure, not a paver failure – pulling and re-laying without fixing the base guarantees the same dip returns within a year.
- Pavers that rock or shift under foot. A paver that moves means the bedding sand beneath it has migrated out through a failed edge or a cracked joint. Water is getting under the surface, and every rain event carries more sand away with it.
- Edge restraint that’s bowed or separated from the border course. The plastic or aluminum edging that pins the perimeter is the driveway’s guardrail. Once it cracks or pulls its spikes loose, the outer pavers start drifting, and the whole field slowly spreads toward the lawn or the street.
- Weed growth through the joints that returns within weeks of pulling them. If weeds keep coming back fast, the joint sand has washed out and been replaced by organic soil. That soil holds water against the paver edges, which accelerates freeze-thaw damage during Orlando’s rare cold snaps and keeps the joints permanently unstable.
- Efflorescence or white crust that doesn’t brush off after a dry spell. That chalky residue indicates water is moving through the paver itself, not just around it. On a properly sealed and graded driveway, that should be minimal. Persistent efflorescence often points to a drainage issue pushing water into the pavers from an adjacent bed or gutter downspout.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

In Orlando, a full Bufftech paver driveway replacement typically runs $7,000 – $18,000, with the spread driven by three factors: total square footage, whether we’re reusing any of the existing pavers, and the depth of the base repair required. A 400-square-foot driveway with a still-solid base and a partial paver swap will sit near the bottom of that range. A 900-square-foot driveway with failed edge restraint, washed-out base, and full new pavers lands at the top.
Every quote we write includes the same line items, so you can see exactly where the money goes: demolition and haul-off of the failing section, base material (typically crushed concrete or limerock compacted in lifts), fresh bedding sand, the pavers themselves, joint sand, edge restraint, and compaction. There’s no allowance for “we’ll figure it out once we open it up.” The number we hand you before work starts is the number on the invoice. And like every Penhallow Remodeling Orlando job, it’s covered by our 365-Day Done Right Promise – if something settles, cracks, or fails inside the first year, we come back and make it right at no charge. That promise is written into the contract, not implied in a handshake.
DIY or Call Us?
There are a few things worth checking on your own before picking up the phone. Walk the perimeter and look for sections of edge restraint that are visibly cracked or leaning outward. Note where standing water lingers after a rain – that tells you where the base is already saturated. Pull one border paver near the problem area and check whether the sand underneath is damp, dark, and compacted (good) or loose and washed-out gray dust (bad). None of that requires a tool or puts you at risk.
What we’d caution against is re-setting multiple pavers yourself. The danger isn’t like a garage-door spring – no one gets hurt re-setting a paver – but the failure mode is the same in one respect: if you don’t correct the base, the repair looks fine for three months and then the dip comes back, usually worse. Proper repair means pulling, checking the base depth, adding material, compacting in lifts, re-screeding the sand, and re-compacting the finished surface. Skipping any one of those steps is how driveways end up looking like a washboard within a year. If you’ve already had a repair fail once, that’s usually the reason. FAQs

In Orlando’s climate, a properly installed Bufftech concrete paver driveway lasts 25 – 35 years on the surface, with the base typically holding 40+ years if the edge restraint and drainage were done right from day one. The weak points are almost never the pavers themselves – they’re the joints, the edges, and what’s underneath them. A driveway that’s failing at year eight was almost always failed by water, not by age. Call (850) 427-6454 for a free estimate if you’re seeing early wear.
Yes, in about seven out of ten cases we can repair the failed area rather than replace the full driveway, if the remaining pavers are intact and the base under the good sections is still stable. The repair still involves pulling the surrounding pavers far enough back to correct the base properly, but the material savings are real. The best way to know is a site look – we’ll tell you straight which route makes sense and give you a written price either way.
Most section repairs we do in Orlando run one to two days, including the base correction and finish compaction. A full driveway replacement typically runs three to five working days, depending on square footage and access for our compactors and material delivery. You’ll have a defined arrival window before the crew shows up, and we leave the site cleaned up the same day we finish.
We don’t warehouse Bufftech pavers on a shelf, but we source them through our Orlando-area trade suppliers and can usually have the specific line you need on site within a week. For homeowners who want the job moving sooner, we also stock common compatible equivalents for the Holland Stone and Coventry Stone profiles in our most-used colors. We’ll show you the color match side by side before any paver goes in the ground. Call (850) 427-6454 and ask for a written quote.
