Tuff Shed Driveway & Pavers: The Orlando Owner’s Guide
We stock and install Tuff Shed-compatible driveway pavers and base materials across Orlando, with typical paver driveway installations running $7,000 – $18,000 depending on square footage, paver style, and how much base repair the existing driveway needs. If your Tuff Shed sits on a paver pad that’s sinking, cracking, or letting water pool against the shed floor, you’re usually looking at a base failure, not just a surface problem. Most Orlando owners notice it first as a shed door that’s suddenly hard to open, or a low corner where rainwater collects after one of our summer downpours.

Penhallow Remodeling Orlando is an independent service provider, not affiliated with Tuff Shed, but we work on their shed foundations and surrounding driveway pavers regularly. We carry paver options from Belgard and Unilock that match or beat the original specs Tuff Shed installations typically use, and our crews can usually have your driveway pad rebuilt within a week of the estimate.
Which Tuff Shed Models This Applies To

This applies to essentially every Tuff Shed built on a paver or concrete pad: the Premier Series, Pro Series, and the smaller garden and utility sheds all sit on a ground-level foundation. The critical thing to understand is that Tuff Shed’s warranty covers the shed itself, not the ground beneath it. The driveway, paver pad, and base layers were either installed by a local contractor at the time of purchase or came with the property when you bought the house. We’ve worked on pads under everything from 8×10 garden sheds in College Park to 16×40 Premier barns in Dr. Phillips.
Here’s the compatibility gotcha most people never hear: Tuff Shed’s installation guidelines specify a minimum 4-inch compacted base layer under any paver pad supporting a shed. If your pavers are sitting on 2 inches of sand over Florida soil, you’ll see settling within two or three rainy seasons. When we inspect a failing pad, we measure the base depth before we quote anything. If it’s under spec, patching the surface won’t hold. The pad needs to come up, the base rebuilt, and the pavers reinstalled. That’s the difference between a $500 patch job and a proper rebuild.

Signs Your Tuff Shed Driveway & Pavers Is Failing
- Shed door dragging or stuck at one corner. The pad has settled unevenly, which usually means the base layer wasn’t compacted properly or water has been eroding it from underneath. Florida’s sandy soil and heavy summer rains accelerate this faster than most other regions.
- Pavers tilting or “lipping” along the edges. Edge restraint was never installed or has failed, so the pavers are drifting outward and dropping. This is common on DIY paver pads and older installations around Orlando’s lakefront neighborhoods where the water table sits high.
- Water pooling against the shed floor or running under the door. The pad’s slope (it should pitch away from the shed at about a quarter inch per foot) was either poured wrong or has flattened over time. In Orlando’s wet season, standing water against a shed floor is a fast track to rot and termite activity.
- Weeds or grass growing up between pavers in dense clusters. This isn’t just a cosmetic problem. Root systems are pushing the pavers apart and breaking down the joint sand, which is what locks the pavers together laterally.
- Visible cracks in a concrete pad under the shed. Tree roots, soil settlement, or a base that was poured too thin are the usual culprits. Once a crack runs under the shed floor framing, the structure is no longer carrying its load evenly.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

In Orlando, a full paver driveway installation around a Tuff Shed runs $7,000 – $18,000. The range is driven by three things: total square footage (a 12×20 pad is a very different job from a 20×40 driveway plus pad), paver choice (standard Belgard pavers start lower than premium Unilock styles), and how much of the old base has to be excavated and rebuilt. If the existing base is solid and only the surface layer is compromised, you’ll land toward the lower end. If we’re digging out 6 inches of Florida muck and starting from scratch, the price moves up.
Every quote from us is a written number before any work starts. It includes all excavation, base material, edge restraint, paver installation, joint sand, and cleanup. No change orders at the door. And the work carries our 365-Day Done Right Promise in writing: if the pavers shift or the base settles within a year, we come back and fix it at no charge. That’s the whole point of giving you the number first.
DIY or Call Us?
A paver driveway under a Tuff Shed is not a weekend project, and we’ll say that plainly. You can safely check your base depth with a shovel along the pad edge, and you can verify the slope with a 4-foot level to see if water is draining away from the shed. That’s worth knowing before you call anyone. But pulling up pavers, re-compacting the base, and reinstalling the entire pad requires a plate compactor, a proper gravel base, geotextile fabric under it, and the muscle to move a few tons of material. In Orlando’s summer heat, that’s how people hurt their backs and end up with a pad that fails again in 18 months because the compaction wasn’t done right.
If you want the pad rebuilt the way Tuff Shed’s own guidelines call for, call us at (850) 427-6454. We’ll come out, measure, check the base, and give you a written price. Trevor Nash has been swinging a hammer on everything from slab foundations to finish carpentry since he learned the trade at Los Angeles Trade-Technical College, and he’ll tell you exactly what’s under your shed before recommending a single thing.
FAQs

A properly installed paver pad with a 4-inch compacted base and good edge restraint should last 20 – 30 years in Orlando’s climate. What fails early is the base layer, not the paver itself. If your pad was built on under-spec base or without edge restraint, expect settling within 3 – 5 years. Call (850) 427-6454 and we’ll check your base depth for free during the estimate.
Sometimes, yes. If the settling is localized and the rest of the base is sound, we can lift the affected pavers, correct the base in that section, and reinstall. But if the base is uniformly under-spec, patch repairs will keep failing. We’ll tell you honestly which situation you have. Call (850) 427-6454 for an inspection and a written quote either way.
Most Tuff Shed driveway and pad replacements in Orlando take 3 – 5 working days, depending on size and weather. Excavation and base work usually take the first day or two, paver installation another two, with compaction and joint sand on the final day. We’ll give you a real arrival window before we start, and we’ll stick to it.
We don’t stock Tuff Shed-branded pavers, because Tuff Shed doesn’t manufacture pavers. What we carry are Belgard and Unilock pavers, which are the same trade brands most Orlando Tuff Shed installations originally used. If you need pavers matched to an existing installation, bring us a photo or a spare paver and we’ll match the style and color. We also stock compatible parts for KraftMaid, Cambria, and Silestone product lines, so matching materials across your property is something we handle regularly.
Give you the number first, then pick up the tool. That’s how we work. Call (850) 427-6454 for your free estimate on Tuff Shed driveway and paver work anywhere in Orlando.
