Sakrete Fence Installation: The Orlando Owner’s Guide

If you’re holding a Sakrete product and wondering what a proper fence installation in Orlando should cost, the honest range is $3,500 – $9,000 for a typical residential fence, including concrete footing work with Sakrete bagged mix. Most Orlando homeowners discover the failure point not in the concrete itself, but in the post base: posts wobble after heavy rain, the concrete collar cracks at ground level, or a gate post leans enough that the latch no longer catches. We stock Sakrete-compatible high-strength and fast-setting concrete on our trucks, and we’ve been setting fence posts in Florida’s sandy, wet soil long enough to know that the mix ratio and the hole depth matter more than the brand on the bag.

Which Sakrete Models This Applies To

Sakrete makes several bagged concrete mixes used in fence installation, and the right one depends on what you’re doing. Sakrete High-Strength Concrete Mix (the standard 4,000 psi blend) works for most post-setting jobs. Sakrete Fast-Setting Concrete Mix is the one many Orlando fence contractors prefer because it sets in 20 – 40 minutes and lets us brace a gate post, set it, and move on without waiting overnight. If you’re repairing an existing fence, Sakrete Top’n Bond or polymer-modified structural repair mix handles cracked concrete collars around old posts.

Here’s the compatibility gotcha we see on a regular basis: fast-setting mix is not the same as high-strength mix. Fast-setting reaches working strength quickly, but it generates more heat during curing. In Orlando’s summer sun, that heat can cause early cracking if the hole isn’t pre-soaked. For structural posts carrying a gate, we use high-strength mix even though it takes longer. If you have a leftover bag, read the printed strength rating on the side: 4,000 psi bags are structural; 2,500 psi bags are for non-structural work like setting mailbox posts or small garden fences. Don’t use the low-strength bag for a swinging gate.

One more thing worth knowing: Penhallow Remodeling Orlando is an independent contractor. We install and repair fences using Sakrete products regularly, but we’re not affiliated with Sakrete directly. We also source materials from recognized trade brands like KraftMaid, Cambria, and Silestone elsewhere in our remodeling work, so we’re picky about what goes into the ground.

Signs Your Sakrete Fence Installation Is Failing

  • The post wobbles when you push on it. This usually means the concrete collar has separated from the post, often because the original hole was dug too narrow or the mix was too wet when poured. In Orlando’s sandy soil, a too-narrow hole lets the post work loose within a season or two.
  • You see a crack running around the base of the concrete. That’s a shrinkage crack from a mix poured too dry or poured in direct July heat without curing water. Water gets in, the soil swells, and the crack widens until the post starts to lean.
  • The gate drags or won’t latch. A leaning gate post is usually the root cause. The post shifts a quarter-inch, the gate sags, and the latch no longer lines up. Tightening the hinge screws won’t fix it if the post is moving in the ground.
  • Water pools at the base after rain. Florida’s afternoon storms hit Orlando hard, and if the concrete was crowned around the post instead of sloped away, water sits there. Over time, that standing water eats at the post base, especially with wood posts that weren’t rated for ground contact.
  • The fence line has a visible wave or bow. One failing post seldom fails alone. If one post shifts, it pulls on the rails, which pull on the next posts, and the whole section starts to look like a slow-motion wave. That’s a sign the original post spacing or hole depth was off.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

For a full fence installation in Orlando with Sakrete concrete footings, plan on $3,500 – $9,000 depending on linear footage, fence material, post spacing, and how much old concrete has to come out first. A typical 150-linear-foot wood privacy fence runs toward the middle of that range. Vinyl fencing lands at the upper end because the material and reinforced post mounting cost more. Aluminum fence installation in Orlando is comparable, around $4,000 – $10,000 for a full yard.

What drivers the number up or down:

  • Fence material: pressure-treated pine is the least expensive, cedar and vinyl cost more, aluminum sits at the top.
  • Old concrete removal: if previous posts were set in concrete that has to be broken out and hauled away, labor hours go up.
  • Gate count and size: a single 4-foot gate is simple. A double driveway gate on heavy posts takes longer and needs larger footings.
  • Soil condition: parts of Orlando near the lakes have mucky, high-water-table soil that needs deeper holes and more concrete per post.

Every fence installation quote we write includes the concrete, the posts, the rails, the pickets or panels, hardware, and labor. You get one written number before any work starts, and that’s the number on the invoice. Our work carries the 365-Day Done Right Promise in writing: if a post shifts or a gate sags in the first year, we come back and fix it at no charge.

DIY or Call Us?

You can safely inspect your existing fence without any special tools: push each post, look for cracks at the base, check gate alignment, and note any standing water after rain. That’s useful information to have when you call us, and it helps us give you an informed quote over the phone.

What you should not attempt yourself is digging out a failed post and re-setting it while the fence panels are still attached. A partially-extracted post under tension from attached rails can snap back, and you’re standing in the path. The same applies to stretching wire fence or working with a heavy gate. The digging, lifting, mixing, and setting is work we do every week, and we handle the disposal of the old concrete too. Give us a call at (850) 427-6454 and we’ll walk you through what we’re seeing from your description before we ever schedule a visit. This is one of those jobs where the prep work is 90% of the result. Give you the number first, then pick up the tool.
