Jerith Roofing: The Orlando Owner’s Guide
If your Jerith fence or railing has a failing roof cap, finial, or post cap, we stock Jerith-compatible replacement parts and install them throughout Orlando, typically for $85 – $310 per post depending on the style, finish, and whether the post itself needs work. Most Jerith roofing part swaps take under an hour per post once we’re on site, and we carry common black and bronze aluminum caps on the truck year-round. You’ll usually notice the problem after a storm or a few hard Florida summers: a cap that’s loose and rattling, a finial that cracked at the base, or a post top that’s starting to bloom with white oxidation. That white powder is aluminum corrosion, and once it starts, the cap is no longer sealing the post the way Jerith designed it to.

We’re an independent Orlando remodeling and repair company, not a Jerith dealer. That matters because it means we’re free to tell you when a quality aftermarket cap does the same job for less, and when you should spend the extra money on a genuine Jerith piece instead.
Which Jerith Models This Applies To

Jerith manufactures aluminum fencing and railing under a handful of product lines, and the roofing parts we most often replace in Orlando are the post caps, ball caps, flat caps, and finials that sit on top of those posts. The Residential line (commonly sold through big-box and fence supply retailers) uses a fairly standard 2-inch and 2.5-inch post profile, but the Jerith Commercial and Estate collections have different post dimensions, and the caps are not interchangeable between them. That’s the most common compatibility gotcha we see: a homeowner orders a cap online for a “Jerith fence,” gets a Residential-sized cap, and it slides right over the post with a quarter inch of slop because they actually have an Estate-series fence.
OEM Jerith caps are powder-coated aluminum with a factory-applied finish matched to specific color codes. Aftermarket caps in black or bronze are usually the same 6000-series aluminum and hold up fine for a decade or more, but color matching can drift slightly if you’re adding a cap next to original Jerith pieces that have been in the Florida sun for eight years. We tell Orlando homeowners the truth here: if it’s a single replacement, buy the OEM to keep the color tight. If you’re recapping an entire fence line, aftermarket is where the real savings live.

Signs Your Jerith Roofing Is Failing
- Loose cap that turns by hand. Aluminum expands and contracts with Orlando’s heat cycles, and the set screw or friction fit eventually loosens. A cap that spins freely is letting rainwater straight into the post.
- White chalky residue around the cap base. That’s galvanic corrosion between the aluminum cap and the steel set screw or any exposed steel hardware. Florida humidity accelerates this more than anything else, and it means moisture is already working inside the post.
- Cracked or split finial. The ornate top pieces on Jerith Estate posts are cast rather than formed, which makes them more brittle. A hard storm impact or even a lawnmower bump can crack one, and the crack usually starts at the narrowest point where the finial flares above the post.
- Water pooling inside the post after rain. That’s the cap seal fully failed. You’ll hear it slosh when you shake the post. Left alone, the post itself will eventually corrode from the inside out.
- Visible rust streaks running down from the post top. The aluminum cap is fine, but the steel set screw has rusted, and rust is staining the post or the fence panel below it.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
Here are the installed ranges we quote across Orlando for Jerith-compatible roofing parts:

- Flat or ball post cap (single post): $85 – $150 installed
- Decorative finial cap replacement: $110 – $210 installed
- Full post cap replacement with post top repair (corrosion cleanup, new hardware, sealant): $160 – $310 installed
The range moves on three things: whether the part is OEM or aftermarket, whether the post itself needs internal corrosion cleanup before a new cap seats properly, and whether the post cap style is a standard profile you can buy off a shelf. The labor is straightforward: remove the old cap, wire-brush any surface corrosion, install the new cap with new stainless hardware, and seal the joint. Every Jerith roofing part we install carries the Penhallow 365-Day Done Right Promise in writing: if the cap cracks, loosens, or the finish fails inside a year, we come back and make it right at no charge.
DIY or Call Us?
Swapping a Jerith post cap is one of the lower-risk repairs on a fence, but there are two places where DIY goes wrong in Orlando. First, if the old set screw is seized, homeowners strip the hex head or snap the screw, and now there’s a broken steel fastener embedded in the post that needs drilling out. Second, if there’s standing water inside the post, just putting a new cap on seals that moisture in, and the post rots from the inside. We’re not going to talk you out of a simple cap replacement if you want to do it yourself. But if you see white corrosion, a cracked finial, or water inside the post, that’s the point to call a technician. We’ll quote the number first, then pick up the tool. Call us at (850) 427-6454 and we’ll tell you exactly what it costs.
FAQs

Jerith post caps and finials generally last 10 to 15 years in Orlando before the finish degrades or the cap loosens, but the Florida sun and humidity take more of a toll than Jerith’s northern testing conditions often suggest. A cap on the west-facing side of your fence will fade and chalk up noticeably faster than one in the shade.
No. Cast aluminum finials can’t be welded reliably in a way that preserves the finish or the strength, and any epoxy that claims to fix it will fail inside a year in Orlando’s heat. Replacement is the honest fix, and a new cap costs less than a second service call would anyway. Call (850) 427-6454 for a free estimate.
Most single-post cap or finial replacements take 30 to 60 minutes on site. A full fence line recap might take half a day depending on how many posts are involved and how much corrosion we find once the caps come off.
We stock common black and bronze aluminum caps for 2-inch and 2.5-inch posts on the truck, and we can order OEM Jerith pieces for Estate or Commercial series posts typically within a week. We also stock parts for KraftMaid, Cambria, and Silestone products for our remodeling clients. Call (850) 427-6454 and we can match your specific post before we come out.
