PGT Windows & Doors: The Orlando Owner's Guide
If you own PGT windows or doors in Orlando, we stock and install replacement hardware, rollers, handles, weatherstripping, and sash components for most WinGuard, SpectraGuard, and Eze-Breeze lines. Typical installed parts replacement runs $175–$750 depending on the component, and we can usually get you on the schedule within a few days, not weeks. Most Orlando homeowners first notice a problem when the window gets hard to open, a door stops sealing tight against the afternoon thunderstorms, or a lock no longer catches cleanly.

We're Penhallow Remodeling Orlando, and we're an independent contractor, not a PGT dealer or affiliate. That said, we've been matching PGT hardware to the right model for Orlando homeowners long enough to know that the wrong roller or balance cartridge turns a $200 fix into a $1,400 window replacement. Trevor Nash built this company on a simple idea: give you the number first, then pick up the tool.
Which PGT Models This Applies To

PGT has made three main product families over the past two decades, and they don't all share parts. WinGuard is the impact-rated aluminum and vinyl line you see on most Orlando homes within 30 miles of the coast, though plenty of inland owners bought it too. SpectraGuard is the vinyl version, and Eze-Breeze is the vinyl-glazed porch and patio enclosure system. Within each line, the hardware often changes between the 500, 700, and 7000 series, so a WinGuard 700 roller won't always drop into a 500 frame.
Here's the fastest way to identify what you have: look for the AAMA label or PGT etching on the glass corner or the frame interior. It lists the series, the manufacturing date, and often the DP (design pressure) rating. That DP number matters more than most people realize. A WinGuard window rated DP50 uses a heavier balance system than a DP30 window the same width, because the frame and sash carry more glass weight. If you replace a balance with the wrong rating, the sash either won't stay up or you'll fight it every time you open it.
For most PGT hardware, we recommend OEM parts. Aftermarket rollers and locks exist, and some are fine, but PGT's extruded aluminum frame channels have tight tolerances. An off-spec roller wheel will wear the track in a year. The cost difference is usually $20–$40 per part, and on a repair you're doing once every 10–15 years, that's not the place to save.

Signs Your PGT Windows & Doors Is Failing
- Window takes two hands or a shoulder to open. The balance cartridge or spring tension has failed, or the roller wheels have flat-spotted. In Orlando's humidity, we see roller bearings corrode from the inside out, even on windows only five years old.
- You can feel air moving around the sash or door edge. Weatherstripping has compressed and lost its memory. PGT extrusions use specific pile heights and fin profiles by series. Not just any strip fits; the wrong one either binds the sash or leaves the gap.
- The lock won't throw or the latch misses the keeper. The multi-point lock on PGT hinged doors drifts out of alignment as the slab settles and the door panel sags slightly. It's usually fixable with an adjustment and a new keeper, not a new door.
- A grinding or dragging sound when the sliding door moves. One roller has seized, and now the metal wheel is dragging across the track. Every pass gouges the aluminum more, so the next set of rollers won't roll true either.
- Condensation between the glass panes. The insulated glass unit's seal has failed. Orlando's heat and humidity accelerate this; we see failed seals on 10–12 year old doors regularly, and replacement glass is a straightforward parts swap.

AfterReplacement Cost & What's Included

In Orlando, PGT parts replacement with labor typically runs:
- Balance cartridge or spiral balance replacement: $175–$350 per window
- Sliding door roller replacement: $250–$500 per panel
- Single-hung window hardware (lock, tilt latches, pivot bar): $120–$280
- Weatherstripping and sealing (full window or door perimeter): $150–$400
- Multi-point door lock assembly replacement: $300–$750
- Insulated glass unit replacement (WinGuard, standard size): $500–$1,400 depending on size and impact rating
The range comes down to series, sizing, and whether the frame needs any cleaning up. A WinGuard 700 series in an oversized width costs more than a standard SpectraGuard 500 window. Every price we give you is written down before we start, parts and labor separated, so the number you approve is the number on the invoice. And the work carries our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if the repair fails within a year, we come back and fix it at no charge, including the second visit.
DIY or Call Us?
The honest answer: you can clean tracks, check for debris, and spray a dry silicone on friction points without much risk. But the moment you're removing a sash, dealing with a balance cartridge under tension, or pulling a door panel off its track, that's where DIY repairs go sideways and turn into larger problems. A single-hung window balance in a WinGuard frame is under spring tension. Pop it wrong and you're replacing the shoe, the pivot, and often the frame channel you didn't mean to bend. We've had calls from Orlando homeowners in College Park and Conway who started with a $30 part on a Saturday and ended up needing a full sash by Monday. If you're not sure, call us at (850) 427-6454 and describe what the window is doing. We'll tell you straight whether it's a cleaning job or a parts job before anyone schedules a visit.
FAQs

Frames and sashes typically last 20–30 years in Orlando's climate, but hardware like rollers, balances, locks, and weatherstripping usually needs replacement every 8–15 years depending on sun exposure and usage. Impact glass itself holds up well; the moving parts are what wear first.
Sometimes yes. A lock that's out of alignment, a door that's sagging, or a track that's fouled can often be adjusted on site. But once a roller bearing has seized or a balance cartridge has lost tension, the part is done. Patching those doesn't work for long, and it costs more to visit twice than to replace the part once. Call (850) 427-6454 and we'll give you a straight read on what you're dealing with.
Most single-window hardware replacements run 45 minutes to 2 hours. A sliding door roller replacement takes about an hour per panel. An insulated glass unit replacement takes a bit longer since the new glass has to be ordered to size, and that's usually a 1–2 week lead time once we confirm measurements.
We keep common WinGuard and SpectraGuard hardware on the truck: rollers, balances, locks, tilt latches, and weatherstripping for the most common series. Odd sizes and specialty glass units we order direct, and we'll tell you the lead time before you commit to the work. Beyond PGT, the shop also carries parts for KraftMaid cabinetry, and Cambria and Silestone countertop integrations where remodels overlap.
