Moen Kitchen Remodeling: The Orlando Owner’s Guide

If you’re holding a failed Moen cartridge, a dripping Moen pull-down faucet, or a Moen sink that no longer drains right, here’s the short answer: we stock Moen-compatible parts on our trucks and install them throughout Orlando, with most kitchen faucet and sink repairs running $180 – $450 including labor. A full Moen kitchen upgrade, where the faucet is just one piece of a cabinet-and-counter remodel, typically lands between $14,000 and $45,000 depending on cabinet line, countertop material, and how much plumbing needs to move. You’ll usually spot the failure the same way every Orlando homeowner does: a faucet that drips at 2 a.m., a spray head that won’t retract, or a handle that spins past the stop with no resistance. The part itself is rarely the expensive part. The trick is matching it to the right Moen series before you buy the wrong cartridge and find out at the sink.

We’re an independent Orlando remodeling contractor, not a Moen affiliate. That matters because we don’t push Moen parts when a quality aftermarket cartridge will outlast the original. We install both, and we’ll tell you which one makes sense for your faucet and your budget.

Which Moen Models This Applies To

Moen’s kitchen lineup breaks into a few families, and the part number you need depends entirely on which family you own. The big three in Orlando kitchens are the Chateau line (the budget workhorse from the 1990s and 2000s, using the 1225 cartridge), the Moen 4000/4500 series (mid-range pull-down faucets from the 2010s, most using the 1255 Duralast cartridge), and the Align, Arbor, and Brantford lines (current flagship pull-downs, mostly 1255 or 4000-series cartridges). If you’re not sure which you have, look under the sink at the supply lines, or check the base of the spout where the model number is stamped on a small tag. The cartridge itself often has the part number printed right on the plastic stem if you pull the handle off.

Here’s the compatibility gotcha many Orlando owners hit: Moen cartridges are not cross-compatible between families. A 1225 will not fit a faucet designed for a 1255, and the 4000-series motion-sensing faucets use an entirely different solenoid and cartridge assembly. Buy the wrong one online and you’ll be doing the job twice. We stock the 1225, 1255, and common 4000-series parts on the truck, so we can usually identify the faucet, pull the right cartridge from inventory, and finish the swap in one visit. For OEM versus aftermarket: Moen’s own Duralast cartridges carry a limited lifetime warranty against leaks and drips, and in our experience they’re worth the extra $15 – $25 over the generic brass-and-plastic copies, which tend to seize up faster in Florida’s hard water.

Signs Your Moen Kitchen Faucet Is Failing

  • Drip that won’t stop, even with the handle cranked tight. The cartridge’s internal seals have worn or the ceramic discs are scored. On Moen faucets, this is almost always the cartridge, not the O-ring. The fix is a cartridge swap, not a handle rebuild.
  • Handle spins past the stop or feels gritty when you turn it. The plastic stem inside the cartridge has sheared, or mineral buildup from Orlando’s water has worked into the cartridge body. You’ll feel resistance, then a slip, then nothing. That’s a replacement, not a cleaning.
  • Pull-down spray head won’t retract or dangles loose. The counterweight under the sink has slipped off the hose, or the hose itself has worn through where it rubs against the cabinet. We see this constantly in older Orlando kitchens where the hose runs through a rough cutout in the sink base.
  • Water flow drops to a trickle, or sputters air. The aerator is clogged with mineral deposits, or the supply line to the faucet is kinked behind the cabinet. If it sputters on hot only, the cartridge is blocking flow and needs to go.
  • Leak from the base of the spout or under the sink when the faucet runs. The O-rings where the spout meets the body have flattened, or the supply line connections have loosened. Either one is a quick fix on the truck, but ignored, it rots the cabinet floor in about six months.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

A stone counter, tile backsplash and open shelf after a kitchen remodel

For a Moen faucet repair in Orlando, expect $180 – $450 installed, depending on whether it’s a cartridge swap, a full hose-and-spray-head replacement, or a supply-line repair. The part itself is usually $25 – $90. The rest is labor, and we quote it as one written number before we start: part, labor, and disposal, all on one line. For a full Moen kitchen remodel, the range runs $14,000 – $45,000. The big levers are cabinet line (stock versus KraftMaid or Wellborn semi-custom), countertop material (laminate at the low end, Cambria or Silestone quartz at the high end), and whether you’re moving the sink, which means plumbing and sometimes electrical work behind the wall.

Every repair and every remodel includes our 365-Day Done Right Promise in writing. If the faucet drips again inside a year, or the countertop seam opens up, we come back and make it right at no charge. No service call fee, no re-inspection fee. The number on day one is the number on the invoice, and it’s a real number, not a range.

DIY or Call Us?

Here’s the honest split. You can safely check the aerator, tighten a loose supply line, and reattach the counterweight under the sink without calling anyone. Those are five-minute jobs and we’ll walk you through them over the phone if you want. But the moment you’re pulling a cartridge, you’re working inside the faucet body with small plastic parts that snap under too much force, and Moen’s retaining nuts often need a specialized puller to remove without scarring the finish. If water is involved and the result of a mistake is a flooded cabinet floor, we’d rather you call us. Trevor Nash grew up in Los Angeles and learned construction at Los Angeles Trade-Technical College before spending two decades on everything from slab foundations to finish carpentry, and the thing he tells every Orlando homeowner is the same: give you the number first, then pick up the tool. Call (850) 427-6454 and we’ll tell you over the phone whether it’s a job you can do yourself or one worth paying for.
