Wellborn Kitchen Remodeling: The Orlando Owner’s Guide
If you have Wellborn cabinetry in your Orlando kitchen and a door hinge has stripped out, a drawer glide snapped, or a cabinet box took water damage from Florida humidity, we can match the part and install it. Typical Wellborn kitchen remodeling work in Orlando runs $14,000 to $45,000 for a full kitchen, but individual cabinet repairs, hinge swaps, and drawer glide replacements usually fall between $150 and $800 depending on the hardware line and how many cabinets are involved. Most owners discover a failing part the hard way: a drawer starts grinding instead of gliding, a door hangs crooked no matter how many times you tighten the screw, or the face frame separates at the corner after years of Orlando’s summer moisture working through the joinery.

We are an independent Orlando remodeling contractor, not a Wellborn dealer or affiliate. That matters because we’ll tell you straight whether a part is worth repairing or whether you’re better off putting that money toward a new cabinet run. Trevor Nash and our crew have been working on Wellborn kitchens in Orlando for years, including plenty of jobs in College Park where the 1950s-era homes weren’t exactly framed with modern cabinet dimensions in mind.
Which Wellborn Models This Applies To

Wellborn has built cabinets under several lines over the decades: the Premier Series, the Estate Series, the Select Series, and the semi-custom Cabinet Collections line. The parts that fail in Orlando are rarely the cabinet boxes themselves. What fails is the hardware: hinges, drawer glides, shelf clips, and the small plastic or metal connectors that hold everything square. Wellborn uses a mix of Grass, Blum, and Salice hinges depending on the year and the series, and that’s where the compatibility gotcha comes in. A Blum clip-top hinge from 2015 will not fit a Grass hinge plate from 2008, even though both cabinets say Wellborn on the label inside the drawer.
The fastest way to identify what you need is to pull the drawer out and look at the glides. Wellborn has used rear-mount epoxy-coated glides, side-mount ball-bearing glides, and, in the last decade, soft-close undermount glides. The brand and model number are usually stamped on the metal. If you can’t find a stamp, measure the drawer box depth. Most Wellborn base cabinets run a 21-inch deep drawer box with a 22-inch glide. The half-inch mismatch happens more often than you’d think when someone orders a “standard” 22-inch glide online and it sticks out past the drawer back.
OEM Wellborn parts exist, but they’re slow to source and often cost two to three times more than a quality aftermarket equivalent from the same manufacturer. Wellborn doesn’t make hinges; Grass and Blum make hinges. So when we install an aftermarket Blum glide on a Wellborn drawer, we’re installing the same glide Wellborn put in at the factory, just without the Wellborn part number markup.
Styles & brands we work with

Signs Your Wellborn Kitchen Remodeling Is Failing
- Drawer glides that grind or catch mid-pull. The ball bearings inside the glide have worn or the nylon wheels have cracked, often accelerated by Orlando’s humidity swelling the wood and adding friction. The fix is usually a matched glide replacement, not a whole cabinet.
- A door that hangs crooked and won’t hold its adjustment. The hinge plate has stripped its screw holes in the face frame or the particleboard side panel. If retightening works for a week and then the door sags again, the substrate is compromised and you need a hinge repair plate or a box repair.
- Drawer front separating from the drawer box. Wellborn uses dovetail joints on higher-end lines and doweled glue joints on the entry lines. Florida’s humidity cycles cause the glue joints on older entry-line drawers to fail, and the drawer front starts to wobble independently of the box.
- Face frame joints opening at the corners. You’ll see a hairline crack at the miter or butt joint, usually on upper cabinets near the range hood or above the dishwasher where heat and moisture concentrate. Left alone, the crack widens and the cabinet loses its square.
- Shelf clips that snap or shelves that bow. Wellborn’s adjustable shelf clips are sturdy but not indestructible, and a loaded shelf of stacked plates in Orlando’s summer heat plus humidity can bow a particleboard shelf beyond its clip capacity. The clips let go and the shelf drops.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

For a single hinge replacement or drawer glide swap in Orlando, you’re looking at $150 to $400 parts and labor. For a full hardware refresh across a 10-cabinet Wellborn kitchen, plan for $800 to $2,200 depending on whether we’re using standard ball-bearing glides or upgrading you to soft-close undermount glides. If the cabinet box itself is failing and you’re considering replacement, a cabinet installation runs $4,000 to $13,000 and a full kitchen remodel with Wellborn-compatible cabinetry lands between $14,000 and $45,000.
What drives the number: how many cabinets are involved, which hardware line yours uses, whether the face frame needs repair before new hinges will hold, and whether you want soft-close upgrades while we’re in there. Every job gets a written price before we start. That’s not a range or a ballpark. It’s the number on the invoice. And it comes with our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if a glide or hinge we install fails inside a year, we come back and fix it at no charge. The return visit is free. No service call, no re-inspection fee.
DIY or Call Us?
Replacing a shelf clip or tightening a hinge screw is something any homeowner can do in five minutes with a Phillips head. Replacing a drawer glide is where DIY gets messy. You need to match the glide length, the mounting style, and the clearance on both sides. Get any of those wrong and you’ve got a drawer that binds, drifts, or doesn’t close at all. There’s no high-tension danger here like a garage door spring, but there’s a real risk of drilling new holes into a cabinet box that’s already had two decades of Orlando humidity working against it. If the screw holes are stripped and the wood feels soft, that’s a box repair, not a five-minute swap.
Our rule is simple: say the price before the work, show up in the window we gave, leave the place cleaner than we found it. If your Wellborn kitchen needs a part matched and installed, call (850) 427-6454 and we’ll come look. We also stock and install parts for KraftMaid cabinetry, and we work with Cambria and Silestone countertops when a cabinet repair turns into a bigger remodel.
FAQs

In Orlando’s climate, you can expect 10 to 15 years from Wellborn hinges and glides before you start seeing sag, drift, or grinding. Homes closer to the coast or near lakes tend to see failures earlier because of the constant humidity, and upper cabinets near the range hood age faster from heat exposure.
Most Wellborn cabinet failures are repairable. Stripped hinge holes can be filled and re-drilled, worn glides get swapped for new matched hardware, and separated drawer fronts can be re-glued and clamped. Replacement only makes sense when the cabinet box itself has water damage, rot, or structural separation beyond a simple joint repair. Call (850) 427-6454 and we’ll give you a straight answer with a written price.
Replacing hinges or drawer glides on a single cabinet typically takes one service visit lasting an hour or two. A full kitchen hardware refresh across ten or more cabinets is usually a one-day job. We bring the common Wellborn-compatible hardware on the truck, so most jobs get done in the first visit.
We keep common Wellborn-compatible hinges, drawer glides, shelf clips, and repair plates in our service vehicles. If your Wellborn cabinet uses an unusual hinge pattern or a discontinued glide length, we’ll source the correct match and have it ready before the second visit. Estimates are free, and the price we quote is the price you pay.
